OHSH Projects is a nomadic project space, conceived in 2021 by Henry Hussey and Sophia Olver from the desire to create tactile conversations between artists and spaces. OHSH Projects is a collage of ideas explored through the artists we work with and the dialogues that emerge between their processes. Our curatorial approach draws on ancient mythology, history and symbolism to decode the paradoxes and inner struggles of contemporary life.
Through our nomadic set-up, we take on various forms transforming diverse locations, from more traditional white cube gallery spaces to unconventional, raw and historic environments, with each iteration inviting participation and reflection. Our approach, exploring ideas of memory, identity, and cultural transformation, hopes to revitalise age-old narratives, interpreting them in socially and contemporaneously resonant ways.
We collaborate with artists whose practices emphasise thoughtful, symbolic storytelling alongside experimental techniques. These artists often draw from diverse backgrounds and work in various mediums, including painting, sculpture, textiles, and digital art, to explore themes such as mythology, memory, and socio-political identity. The artists are chosen for their ability to produce introspective, tactile works that encourage meaningful reflection, aligning with our mission to create resonant, mesmeric experiences. Our selection of artists nurtures a wide-ranging exploration of contemporary issues through both abstract and narrative-driven approaches.
