Year One is a group exhibition featuring five painters who have been sharing a studio together for the past year at Turps Banana. Within their studio they have found a community that allows critical engagement with their own work and with others, with a group of peers open enough to accept and engage with a wide variety of approaches to painting. The work made in this environment moves between the figurative, biomorphic, and the abstract, displaying both inner and outer worlds, the familiar and the elusive. Year One will showcase the work made during this time, foregrounding the artists shared and committed approach to painting.
